Born in Paris, Charlie Fouchier (he/him) studied choreographic arts at the Centre National de la Danse Contemporaine in Angers (France) after completing a bachelor’s degree in philosophy at the Sorbonne university in Paris. He then worked as a dancer/performer with internationally renowned choreographers such as Tino Sehgal, Aina Alegre, Laurent Chétouane, Isabel Lewis, Moritz Majce, Yoshiko Waki and Johann Kresnik.

His artistic works are conceived as choreographic modelling of performative events and are shown in various venues throughout Germany (LOFFT-DAS THEATER, Residenz Schauspiel Leipzig, DOCK 11 (Berlin), Kunstfabrik Flutgraben (Berlin), HELLERAU (Dresden), Resistdance (Cologne) and others). They combine approaches from choreography, performance art and the visual arts and are based on phenomenological analyses of perceptual processes as well as research elements from the neurosciences, philosophy and psychoanalysis. He thus develops work that questions the modes of production of meaning in the performative space and the articulations between movement, narrative and context.

Parallel to his artistic work, he conceptualises transdisciplinary research projects. As chair of the association Tanzplattform Leipzig e.V., he co-organises festivals, residencies and training sessions. He is a dance teacher as part of the Leipzig Dance Theatre’s trainee programme.

In Paris geboren, Charlie Fouchier (er/ihm) absolvierte nach einem Philosophie-Bachelor an der Sorbonne-Universität in Paris das Studium für choreographische Künste des Centre National de la Danse Contemporaine in Angers (Frankreich). Anschließend arbeitete er als Tänzer/Performer mit international renommierten Choreografen wie Tino Sehgal, Aina Alegre, Laurent Chétouane, Isabel Lewis, Moritz Majce, Yoshiko Waki und Johann Kresnik zusammen.

Seine künstlerische Werke sind als choreografische Modellierungen von performativen Ereignissen konzipiert und werden in verschiedenen Veranstaltungshäuser deutschlandweit gezeigt (LOFFT-DAS THEATER, Residenz Schauspiel Leipzig, DOCK 11 (Berlin), Kunstfabrik Flutgraben (Berlin), Resistdance (Köln) u. a.)). Sie verbinden Ansätze aus der choreographie, der Performancekunst und der bildenden Kunst und basieren auf phänomenologischen Analysen von Wahrnehmungsprozessen sowie auf Forschungselementen aus den Neurowissenschaften, der Philosophie und der Psychoanalyse. Er entwickelt somit eine Arbeit, die die Produktionsweisen von Bedeutung im performativen Raum und die Verbindungen zwischen Bewegung, Erzählung und Kontext hinterfragt.

Parallel zu seiner künstlerischen Arbeit konzipiert er transdisziplinäre Forschungsprojekte. Als Vorstandsmitglied des Vereins Tanzplattform Leipzig e.V. mitorganisiert er Festivals, Residenzen & Trainings. Er ist Tanzpädagoge im Rahmen des Trainee-Programm des Leipziger Tanztheaters.

Il a ensuite collaboré en tant que danseur/performeur avec des chorégraphes tels que Tino Sehgal, Aina Alegre, Laurent Chétouane, Isabel Lewis, Moritz Majce, Yoshiko Waki et Johann Kresnik.

Ses œuvres artistiques sont conçues comme des modélisations chorégraphiques d’événements performatifs et sont présentées dans différentes salles de spectacle à travers l’Allemagne (LOFFT-DAS THEATER, Residenz Schauspiel Leipzig, DOCK 11 (Berlin), Kunstfabrik Flutgraben (Berlin), Resistdance (Cologne), etc.). Elles combinent des approches issues de la chorégraphie, de la performance et des arts visuels et se basent sur des analyses phénoménologiques des processus de perception ainsi que sur des éléments de recherche issus des neurosciences, de la philosophie et de la psychanalyse. Il développe ainsi un travail qui interroge les modes de production de sens dans l’espace performatif et les articulations entre mouvement, récit et contexte.

Parallèlement à son travail artistique, il conçoit des projets de recherche transdisciplinaires. En tant que co-président de l’association Tanzplattform Leipzig e.V., il coorganise des festivals, des résidences et des formations. Il est pédagogue de la danse dans le cadre du programme de formation des stagiaires du Leipziger Tanztheater.
